JIM THOME

A hard-hitting infielder with extraordinary power and a sharp eye, Jim Thome belted 612 home runs over a 22-year career. Debuting with Cleveland as a third baseman, Thome moved across the diamond early in his career to become one of the most productive first basemen of the modern era. He hit 30 or more homers twelve times, led his league in walks three times and made five All-Star Game appearances. Thome’s 17 round trippers in postseason play included four home runs apiece in both the 1998 ALCS and 1999 ALDS. Known for his positive attitude and gregarious personality, Thome was involved with many charities during his playing career. He was honored with two Marvin Miller Man of the Year Awards and a Lou Gehrig Memorial Award for his community involvement.
