MIKE SCHMIDT
Widely considered the greatest third baseman in the history of baseball, Mike Schmidt possessed an unprecedented combination of power and defense. A 12-time All-Star, Schmidt’s graceful, seemingly effortless play in the field led to 10 Gold Gloves, while his power-hitting exploits earned him the National League MVP in 1980, 1981 and 1986. Schmidt belted 40 or more homers in three seasons, and hit 30 or more ten other times. He is one of very few stars in the free agent era who spent his entire 18-year career with one team.
