RICHIE ASHBURN
Richie Ashburn was among the most consistent lead-off hitters in major league history. He hit lead-off for 15 years, batting over .300 nine times, winning two National League batting titles, and finishing second three times. A five-time All-Star, he was a spray hitter who delivered in the clutch and was always a threat on the base paths. Ashburn was the center fielder and spark plug of the 1950 Phillies Whiz Kids, a team that won the National League pennant on the last day of the season over the Dodgers. He was one of the most beloved personalities in the history of the Phillies organization.
